MWF

The MWF was designed to work with the high pressure water system included in the 2005 GE SmartWater™ refrigerators. GE recommeds the use of only the MWF in its high pressure water system refrigerators. However, the MWF is backward compatible with all other GE SmartWater™ refrigerators prior to 2005 and GE Water by Culligan refrigerators. The MWF Smartwater™ Water Filter replaces the GWF and FXRC water filters.(Sears number for this filter is 9905 or 46-9905.)

Adapter

This adapter is necessary when replacing the silver Culligan type filters (FXRC, HXRT, FXRT, MXRC). It is reusable.

To replace this filter, you'll need to use the adapter. There are a few rare cases where the GWF + adapter doesn't fit well (the culligan filter was shorter), but 99% of the time there is no problem.
